The Origin of the Challenge

In October 2020, I challenged myself to run 1,000 miles over a year and I asked several of my family and friends to join me. Over 200 of my family and friends heard my call to action and became members of my Facebook community dedicated to completing the 1,000-Mile Run/Walk Challenge. They laced up their sneakers and joined me in monthly challenges by walking, running, completing marathons, and participating in other races to meet our common goal!

After I completed my first 1,000-mile challenge, I felt so physically, mentally, and spiritually rewarded from the experience that I wanted to inspire even more people to complete their own 1,000-mile challenges. The ultimate goal of the 1,000 Mile Run/Walk Challenge is to promote good health habits and cardiovascular endurance while raising awareness for some of life's most challenging issues, such as devastating diseases or societal issues that we face every day in our country.

Our mission is to raise awareness for these causes by conducting a series of fundraisers throughout the year for a variety of nonprofit organizations (501c3). I chose these organizations because they align with values or situations that have touched my life in some way, such as assisting breast cancer survivors, supporting mental health sufferers, mentoring youth, or providing military veteran uplift.

Over the next year, I am challenging friends and family to join me on this journey to walk/run their own 1,000 miles and to support future fundraising campaigns. Click on the link below to sign up for a challenge right now. See you at the finish line, and remember to keep moving for a cause!
